Intermittent fasting or IF is a style of eating that alternates between of fasting (no Calories) and eating normally. With this your done calorie counting.

At the end of the day the only way to get rid of your gut is to burn more calories then you take in and Intermittent fasting is a simple and effective way of reducing the calories you take in. It's something thing you can do forever. It's not a diet, It's a lifestyle. 

Every diets works, yep all of them. it's a system and most if not all are based on calorie restriction.

You see diets are always looked at as some sort of phase that you have to endure for awhile to meet your goal of a leaner body. It's looked at as pain and suffering and for the most part that shit is tough, I won't sit here and tell you it's not. However after you get through the diet most people find it pretty difficult to stick to.

From what I've have read and practiced Intermittent fasting is good stuff!!

  • Lowers blood sugar and Improves insulin sensitivity (Your body will be able to process sugar much better)
  • Increasing fatty acid oxidation (Your body will learn to use it's own fat for fuel efficiently)
  • Muscle preserving and gains
  • and a ton of other health factors.

How It works

 

In the morning your body is using the food you have eaten from the night before for fuel, food does take a little while to digest. Once you digest that food your body starts to go to the fat stores for it's main source of energy. So burning your fat stores as a fuel helps you lose body fat.

BOOM! Simple right??

 

I know the you may read in some nutrition and fitness magazines, when done properly intermittent fasting will not cause you to lose muscle mass or cause your metabolism (your bodies ability to burn calories) to slow down.

So no worries, you won't shrivel up and die by not eating for a few hours…

A) You'll spend less money. You'll still be eating plenty of food but most of the money you do spend is from buy shit shacks, bars or expensive health food when your away from home. By eating less often you'll spend less money on food when your on the go…

B) You'll be more productive. No need to have to plan out each and every meals or take a break and get in 1 of you 6 meals anymore. That leaves you with time to G.S.D…. Workout, catch up on chores, read a book, you see your life won't revolve around food anymore. Not being a slave to eating all day long at specific times each day means FREEDOM!!

C) No more calorie counting. When your on a traditional diet you get kinda OCD about calories. we all know that being in a caloric deficit is the only way to lose weight but you'll never again have to figure out how many calories are in 9 walnuts and 2 slices of apples.

D) You'll understand the bodies natural cravings. Since your eating less often your body doesn't have to constantly pump out insulin to regulate all the sugar in the blood. Less insulin means less of a desire for sugary foods.

E) More energy and mental clarity. Ever had a huge breakfast, the a big ass lunch and you need coffee and candy so you don't crash by 2pm?? Well that doesn't happen when your practicing intermittent fasting. You'll be clear headed, focused and ready to rock all day!!

 

Ok so now we know that figuring out how to eat 6 healthy meals a day really sucks, not to mention carrying a back pack full off Tupperware with you to work each and every single day.

 

 

Here's how you can get it done!!

 

There are a couple different ways you can go about fasting.

 

1) We have the 24 hour fast. This approach calls for only 1 or 2 days a week of no eating at all. This is called alternate day fasting. This one was created by Brad Pilon author of the book Eat Stop Eat.

Brad suggests something like going from breakfast, about 8am to breakfast or dinner 7pm to dinner. You can check out his book HERE==>>

 

2) Calls for longer periods of fasting ranging from 3-10 days, sometimes called a cleanse.

 

3) This one is my favorite. It has smaller periods of fasting. It's a 16 hours followed by and 8 hour feed. This one was created by Martin Berkhan at the website Leangains.

 

4) The Warrior diet is another big method. This thrives off the principal that humans are nocturnal eaters, inherently programmed for under eating and toiling during the day, followed by overeating and relaxing at night.

So basically you only eat one big ass meal at night, that's it.

 

Their are a few more but these are the most popular and yield the best results, at least I think so…

 

Conclusion

 

Intermittent fasting isn’t something you halfass. You need to be 100% commited, not 1 day on 2 weeks off then say it doesn't work. Give it a real shot! I would say about 3 weeks and you should see and feel a drastic change in your body and over all metal well being.
