So much to do and so little time. You heard the saying, you probably live it. Sometimes just saying NO is the only way you'll be able to get your life back. 

Our to do list is stacked and growing each day. 

Everyday something is pulling you and asking for your attention. Most of the time it's stuff you really don't want to do. 

I have a couple friends who have been stuck for years. They say they don't have the time to do what they really want. 

They're constantly saying "yes" all day long. 


To helping friends move. 

To taking on more chores. 

To taking on more responsibility at work. 

To offering more services. 

To trying to appeal to more people. 

To dinner and drinks with those they'd rather not spend time with. 

To activities they don't want to participate in. 

To potential opportunities to make more money. 

To their spouses just to keep them happy. 


Saying "no" doesn't make you a jerk. That's the guilt we all have that allows up to give up control of our own lives. 


Yes you are "allowing" outside factors to dictate the out come of your life. 


When we say "yes" to one thing you are saying "no" to something else. And we are generally saying NO to things that benefit us. To live a happier, healthier, more productive life we need to put ourselves first. 


Exercise, nutrition, meditation, your personal projects should all come first before you even consider giving up that time for anyone else. 

"Put your mask on first!" 


A saying from a very good friend, which I truly take to heart now.   

When you fly on an airplane, the flight attendant instructs you to put YOUR oxygen mask on first, before helping others.  This an important rule for survival?  Because if you run out of oxygen, you can’t help anyone else with their oxygen mask.




You have to be willing to say NO


A lot.


Famous strength coach and one of my mentors, Dan John, has a saying "The goal is to keep the goal the goal." 

To do that you've got to say "NO." Otherwise your goal takes a back seat to everyone else's goals, every single time.  


Don't be a "yes" man. 


I used to be one. 

Now I say "no" ALL… DAY… LONG. 

It's changed my health and my happiness.  


Just say "no"
